May 12, 2009 (Tuesday) - we are celebrating the International Nurses' Day (IND), which also happens to be Florence Nightingale's birthday, the internationally recognized founder of modern nursing. This year's theme is "Delivering Quality, Serving Communities: Nurses Leading Care Innovations."The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has been celebrating this event since 1965. As part of the celebration, the ICN gives out the International Nurses' Day Kit, which contains educational and public information materials that could be used by nurses all over the world.
We are all aware that nurses play an important role in our healthcare system, and the IND was initiated to acknowledge all the hardwork and dedication that nurses all over the world that made this system more effective.
For all the Filipino nurses here and abroad, this event is very important because it shows that their compassion for their work are being recognized, and there's nothing that can be more dignifying than that.
So to all the Filipino nurses, even nurses all over the world, and nursing students, HAPPY INTERNATIONAL NURSES' DAY and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE!!
